Socratism is all about the philosophy of Socrates or rather his approach to philosophical investigation, the Elenctic method. You have probably heard about Socrates before, in any case, he is said to have been an ancient Greek stonemason and one of the founders of western philosophy.
So how about this method of his? Well, we should start by saying that he used it to bring out implicit definitions in people’s beliefs and help them further their understanding. Socrates would do this simply by conversing with others and asking questions. Even though you need to ask the right question for this method to actually work, at Socratism.org we believe that anyone can do it. Especially if a little inspiration and guidance are provided like we are trying to do on this site.
Socrates would go around looking for wisdom for example by asking people what Justice really is. Or you can say that he started by asking what we mean by the terms we are using. Does that sound like a good idea? We assure you that it can be a lot of fun!
